Founded in 1928, Sugimoto Hamono has developed its craftsmanship by listening to professional chefs working in the front line of Japanese cuisines.
Lately, their creation has been expanded towards Western and Chinese knives with the tradition of Japanese bladesmith technique, that are now Sugimoto’s key products in the overseas market.
While there are numbers of commercialised knife brands in Japan, Sugimoto is endeavouring to re-establish the true value of “Made in Japan” knives.
Therefore, their production level is kept small and they only hand out knives which promise superlative experience for professional users.
Chrome Molybdenum series are Sugimoto’s signature stainless steel knives. Adding small amount of chromium and molybdenum in carbon steel, it is not only rust-resistant but holds similar sharpness, durability and grindability to pure carbon steel knives. It is suited for both professional and domestic use.

Plywood handle is mostly used in professional chef knives. It is easy grip and reduces fatigue when holding long hours. Bolster shuts out water coming inside which causes damage on the handle. It also gives good weight balance of blade and handle.
As of 19th March 2018, Kaz's Knife and Kitchenware supports Cancer Council Australia (ACC), cancer related Non-Profit Organization.
Since Kaz lost one of his family members because of leukaemia in 2017, taking this step would be very meaningful for us. We conduct this charity campaign ongoing basis and send a donation to ACC every month.
By purchasing knives from us, you will automatically participate this charity campaign as we collect $2 from the sales of every knife product. Say if you purchase 2 knives, we donate $4 on behalf of you.
We post the outcome of this campaign every month so you can see how much together we could help someone's life with battling cancer.
